Super wide aluminium screen fabrics

Screen fabrics are an important element of the large range of sun protection materials at Junkers & Müllers. Thanks to the effective shielding of glare whilst ensuring visual contact to the outside, these materials are particularly interesting for use within public buildings and workplaces, especially materials with aluminising on the back.
In the past, such aluminised materials were only available with maximum widths of up to 240 cm, Junkers & Müllers now carries qualities up to 290 cm in width. Modern office architectures are increasingly characterised by large expanses of glass. The new developments are a sign of the material supplier adapting in accordance with these new dimensions.
On the one hand, the tried and tested JM SILKSHADE D quality is also available in a wider dimension.
On the other hand, a completely new quality is also being introduced. The special fabric construction, in combination with the aluminium backing, ensures a optimum ratio between very high reflection values and low light transmission with good visibility to the outside. And this practically independent of colour. The compact product structure prevents the aluminium from shining through to the right side. This enables us to offer very light colourways with high colour saturation. The care properties are also a key advantage. Despite the aluminising, the product may be damp wiped clean.
These materials, like all other screen fabrics from Junkers & Müllers, are made without PVCs, a free of chlorinated fluorocarbons, softeners and other dubious substances.

Mediatex® innovations from Junkers & Müllers

As a renowned manufacturer of interior sunshades, it is no surprise that the Mediatex® product
segment is also based on the high demands of interior decorating. Individuality shaped by printable textiles for room design remains a topic even in the era of advanced printing technologies.

Thanks to the new collection of Mediatex® WallCover, Junkers & Müllers is building on a very attractive market for designers and interior decorators.

The products Mediatex® WallCover Textile and Mediatex® WallCover Effect are equipped with self-adhesive and enable simple, fast and clean applicable to walls. The optimisation of the adhesive means that the material adheres to a wide variety of wall surfaces and paints. Both products are suitable for many different applications. They are used in store construction and property design, in gastronomy and hostelry as well in the private sector. They are also ideal for wall coverings without overlaps.

The product Mediatex® WallCover Effect is characterised by the special mother-of-pearl coating and is particularly well-suited for advertising in the beauty, jewellery and fashion sectors or as high-quality textile wall coverings to lend an elegant and exclusive optic.
All of these textiles are extremely stable under the effect of heat and may be printed with eco-solvent, solvent, latex and UV inks.

World innovation - Mediatex® MagicCover
At the FESPA 2015 in Cologne, Junkers & Müllers GmbH introduced the new innovation in wall coverings. The Wall Cover Material is optimised by an opaque coating and a grey back which ensures that dark patches on the wall, for example, soiling, are completely covered. The thickness of the material means that minor discrepancies in the evenness of the wall can no longer be seen. The textile can also be printed with eco-solvent, solvent, latex and UV inks. Like all textiles for digital printing produced by Junkers & Müllers, these materials are also PVC-free.

Mediatex® Vento FR on the march

Since the initial presentation of our new display material, the Mediatex® Vento FR from FESPA 2014, this article is considered one of the highlight products in our new range.
Mediatex® Vento FR - A product with a particularly real textile haptic and a surface that is not subject to buckling. The particularly high opacity compared to competing products, makes it an extremely interesting prospect for display uses. We recommend this product for printing on the basis of sublimation technologies. It can be used for both direct printing and for printing with transfer papers. A variation of the Mediatex® Vento FR product will also be available in future for use with HP latex inks. Here, the key is maintaining the textile charm of the product and providing it with the appropriate surface treatment. Mediatex® Vento FR also ensures very high scratch-resistance with latex inks. A material with a particularly real textile haptic. Of course, Mediatex® Vento FR has been certified flame-resistant by recognised institutes.
As with Junkers & Müllers GmbH textiles for digital printing, these materials are PVC-free in accordance with Oeko-Tex® Standard 100.

FESPA 2015

At the FESPA 2015 in Cologne, Junkers & Müllers GmbH was presenting a series of newly-developed textile substrates for digital printing.

One of them was a new development for wall covering. Mediatex® Magic Cover optimizes the wall cover material with an opaque coating and gray back, completely covering dark spots and discolorations on the wall due to things such as dirt. The material is thick, so even minor imperfections in the surface of the wall are no longer visible. This textile is suitable for printing with eco-solvent, solvent, latex and UV inks.

With Mediatex® Duotex Junkers & Müllers was also launching a new development for direct and transfer sublimation printing at the fair. The blockout material, white on both sides, is equipped with a special blocking layer that prevents dyes from migrating through the material. This means the textile can be printed on both sides with no problems, making it especially suitable for use in the areas of trade fair booth construction, banner advertising, and shop design.

Like all textiles for digital printing from Junkers & Müllers, these materials are also PVC-free.

New roller blind fabrics from Junkers & Müllers

Junkers & Müllers launches another comprehensive range of new products. In this range the new roller blind print collection "Love it!" takes centre stage. However, this title isn't really needed. When going through the new collection, page after page, sample after sample, new worlds are discovered, inspiring with countless new design ideas.

In addition to stylised floral motifs and dramatic geometric designs there is also a new pattern "LINO PRINT", which as a discretely structured and timeless classic fits in many areas of the home. Detailed print effects reproduce the flowing, natural, woven pattern of coarse linen. The colour palette emphasises the warm, comfortable character of this roller blind fabric. It covers both light shades, like raw linen, and the subtle nuances of stone, sand and earth tones. "LINO PRINT" is available in a semi-transparent quality and also as a blackout fabric. Therefore it can be used as window decoration worldwide.

In addition to the new print fabrics, Junkers & Müllers also introduces a number of new plains. The new additions to the well-established CARINA range are particularly of importance. Firstly, the semi-transparent basic quality CARINA is now also available in width 310 cm. Secondly, the blackout options have been increased. Previously one could choose between a white or colour matching foam backing, but now there is also a blackout fabric with an aluminium backing. The special reflective properties of aluminium result in very good light and heat insulation.

The stand was exceptionally well visited on all of the days. Junkers & Müllers is extremely satisfied with the positive reaction at this year’s trade fair appearance.

Junkers & Müllers GmbH – an energy-conscious company

In view of serious changes in the world, for example, the threat of global climate change, energy awareness is becoming an increasingly significant factor in the economy. Ecologically responsible behaviour creates sustainability and signifies social responsibility for subsequent generations. Junkers & Müllers GmbH is a producer that is aware of this responsibility. Junkers & Müllers has now been awarded the “Energy-conscious company” certificate by the ICG (International Certification Group). This signifies that the company has implemented the requirements of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy via systems for energy-efficient improvements.

Only an attitude that unites economic activities with ecological and social responsibility will be able to ensure constant successful development. Junkers & Müllers GmbH has been subscribing to this principle for more than 60 years. The entire range of products offered by the company is produced solely in Germany and is subjected to the strict environmental directives of the European Union. All items have the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 environmental standard label. This means that they are below the limits for specific substances with inherent health risks. At the same time, all products meet the strict regulations of the mandatory REACh directive with regard to the regulation of use of chemicals in Europe since summer 2007. In addition, the company also does not use PVC on principle. Even screen fabrics can be offered without any PVC content.
Each new investment in the machine pool is designed, primarily to save energy, and thus contributes towards the gentle use of resources.
The environmental compatibility of the products and the production processes is an important aspect of the sustainability claim. Another aspect is ensuring the high energy-efficiency in practical usage in residential and public settings with the use of products specially developed for this purpose.
Junkers & Müllers meets its ecological responsibility with regard to products even beyond the production and utilisation times. A return service is offered for products and the company ensures sensible recycling. In conjunction with EGN – Entsorgungsgesellschaft Niederrhein mbH – the products are prepared as secondary fuels and thus represent a resource-saving alternative to fossil fuels. All JM products carry the RAL seal of quality for Sekundärbrennstoffe des Deutschen Instituts für Gütesicherung und Kennzeichnung e.V.

Innovations 2015

The focus of the new developments by Junkers & Müllers for 2015 is the new roller blind print collection. Fresh new ideas using sophisticated printing techniques are presented under the title "Love it!". Huge diamonds shine brightly and cheerfully in strong colours on a white base. The vividly soft watercolour structures appear hand painted on the coarse CORDOBA roller blind textile.
CALIFORNIA VELVET is a new quality which contrasts the shimmering satin surface of the base material with a velvet-like print. The tone-in-tone colouring lives entirely on the material contrast that creates an interesting play of light.
Another special feature of the new roller blind collection is an effectively printed little square on the ANCONA base textile. The print colour of the minimalist quadratic grid corresponds with the yarn used on the fabric and lifts the special pigment from the background like a weave effect. This design is available in both warm linen shades as well as in cool anthracite.

Junkers & Müllers is also introducing a number of innovations in pleated blinds as well. They include imaginative prints and interesting plains. One innovation worth a special mention is the new, extra slim blackout quality SETO BLACKOUT. With a material thickness of just 0.22 mm, this fabric guarantees elegantly slim pleat packs. This pleated blind with its characteristic non-woven structure has a similar appearance to fine Japanese paper. The white reverse of the material ensures good light and heat reflection. These, and many other product innovations, can be seen in February 2015 at the R+T in Stuttgart.

Junkers & Müllers is an innovative and environmentally aware partner in the INTERREG IV A-Project TKV FO, SITex-Print sub-project

Inkjet print technology is becoming increasingly important. It offers high potential to achieve high quality premium prints with good colourfastness, and not forgetting new functions, on the most diverse textile materials. Due to the variety of textile materials, a large range of different dyes and printers is needed. "SITex-Print - Solid Inks for Textile Printing" is the name of the sub-project in the German-Dutch project "TKV FO" dealing with the development of an environmentally-friendly inkjet technology with thermoplastic inks. A digital textile print process is to be made possible with a universally applicable printing system – irrespective of the textile material. Developments focus on applications for interior decoration, such as panel blinds and roller blinds or soft signage for printing textile displays, banners, flags or wallpaper, which are used in the areas of fashion, decoration, advertising, architecture and shopfitting.
Junkers & Müllers GmbH is a competent project partner and the company has extensive know-how as well as the technological competence and power of innovation in this segment. Furthermore, the company's aim is to achieve continuous improvement of environmental protection within the business. It is committed to carrying out production processes in an environmentally conscious way and permanently monitoring their efficiency. The focus is on careful handling of resources. Energy is used specifically and economically. Technical and organisational measures ensure that residual materials, waste products, emissions that are damaging to the environment and wastewater are all minimised. Junkers & Müllers is fully determined to pursue the company policy of sustainable, economic growth in the future and to push it forward. This is why the company is supporting the SITex-Print Project; the possible use of thermal inks for textile print on suitable digital print media whilst avoiding high cost and energy intensive drying and fixing processes would be a further step towards the use of sustainable production processes. Interior applications would also benefit from an ink technology free of solvents and emissions.
One aspect shown over course of the project is that the use of simple pre-treatments in combination with low temperature processes on suitable PES fabrics achieves prints with sharp contours and sufficient resistance to abrasion.

Junkers & Müllers is being awarded the quality seal “Innovative through Research”

“In Germany there are 3.5 million companies, less than one percent of which are involved in research– an extremely important group” according to the Stifterverband, one of the largest private sponsors of research in Germany. “Only those who research are able to make new discoveries and achieve innovation and growth”. By awarding the “Innovative through Research” quality seal the Stifterverband Institution wants to acknowledge companies that demonstrate a particular dedication to research and development.

One of these companies is the textile manufacturer Junkers & Müllers, which manufactures exclusively in Germany.
Whether it be textiles for sunshading, fabrics for digital printing or very special technical applications, as one of the leading producers of technical textiles, the company implements visions. Here the spatial unity of development and production at the site in Mönchengladbach ensures the effective interplay of technical innovation and technological implementation. With the comprehensive in-house machine park, the company has a wide range of textile related technologies at its disposal. A team of engineers develops futuristic products and gives the possibility to realise special product ideas. Inputs and ideas from outside, for example, via international specialist symposia coupled with many years of experience in the worldwide market, form the basis for targeted development work. Over the last few years the company has invested a considerable amount in the expansion of its test equipment. That is why Junkers & Müllers is in a position to carry out a wide range of quality tests in-house. The in-house laboratory carries out material tests, for example, burn tests or test according to the air permeability. In order to test the suitability of the fabrics for specific applications, Junkers & Müllers manufactures test systems in-house. A climatic chamber is used to carry out a range of simulations to test the materials under extreme climatic conditions. At the in-house atelier, designers ensure aesthetic innovations, constantly oriented towards the current international trends. The textiles of Junkers & Müllers are more than just consumables; they are a statement of aesthetics, quality, sustainability and forward-looking product developments.
